Media baron Ramoji Rao’s last journey began from Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad with full state honours. He died on 8 June in Hyderabad.

The last rites of media baron and Eenadu and Ramoji Film City founder Ramoji Rao are being performed at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. 87-year-old Rao died during treatment at a city hospital.
According to ETV Bharat report, the Telangana government has arranged for state honours for the late media baron’s last rites. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who is currently in Delhi for the CWC meeting, has directed the Chief Secretary to ensure proper monitoring of the proceedings. The Chief Secretary in turn has directed the Ranga Reddy District Collector and Cyberabad Commissioner to manage the arrangements.
Along with this, the Andhra Pradesh government has declared June 9 and 10 as mourning days, wherein the national flag will fly at half-mast on all government buildings and all government entertainment activities will be suspended. In addition, three senior officials – RP Sisodia, Saiprasad and Rajat Bhargava – will represent the Andhra Pradesh government at Ramoji Rao’s funeral.

On June 8, many artists from the South film industry paid tribute to Ramoji Rao on his death anniversary. Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi, Mohanlal, Jr NTR, Ram Charan, SS Rajamouli and other celebs paid their tributes.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana BJP chief and party MP G Kishan Reddy also expressed their condolences.
Cherukuri Ramoji Rao, born on November 16, 1936, was an iconic Indian entrepreneur and media tycoon, known for his profound influence on the Indian film industry and media sector. He founded the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad in 1996, recognized as the world’s largest film city, spread over an area of more than 2,000 acres. This massive facility provides extensive resources for filmmaking, including sets, studios, and post-production services, and is also a major tourist attraction, drawing visitors from all over the world.
