According to media reports, the Cross-Party Committee met the Governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), who were nominated for the ministerial positions after the party won at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the December elections.
The committee disagreed on several issues, in which some MPs accused NPP leader Alexander Affenio-Markin in Parliament, who were unnecessarily excluding the process to settle the political score.
According to a BBC report, the committee took more than five hours, which included only one nomination-communication minister Shamuel Narthe George.
Many NDC MPs alleged that this was a form of political vengeance by opposition MPs in the committee, who reportedly wanted George former President and NPP leader Nana Akufo-Aid and his vice-president, Mahamadu Bawumia to withdraw his previous criticism of Mahamadu Bawumia. .
Oral disagreement soon became physical, in which the members of the waiting committee ended on their feet – shouting, pushing each other and raising the table up.
As a result, four MPs- three from NPP and one from the governing party- was suspended by the Speaker of Parliament for two weeks.
