Vicky Kaushal told why he did not live abroad after post-graduation degree
Actor Vicky Kaushal told about his journey from studying engineering to becoming a Bollywood star. He shared how an industrial visit to a multinational company changed his career path.

Actor Vicky Kaushal has achieved stardom in his Bollywood career, which is a far cry from his early days of living in a one-bedroom apartment in Mumbai. In college, he envisioned a stable life abroad, earning a master’s degree, and climbing the corporate ladder. However, everything changed during an industrial visit to a multinational company.
In a recent conversation with harper’s bazaar india, The 36-year-old actor recalled why he didn’t settle abroad with a corporate job and became an actor instead.
“In college, I thought I would follow the traditional route, perhaps settling abroad after my master’s degree. But everything changed during an industrial visit to a multinational company. The moment I stepped into that office, I knew it wasn’t for me. I couldn’t see myself trapped in a cubicle; I would be very sad,” Vicky shared.
The experience prompted the Uri actor to ask himself: what did he really want? “I realized I needed to pursue what I really wanted. I always loved being on stage and participating in dances and plays, but I never considered acting as a career. I wanted to be in the spotlight. He was shy and uncomfortable with the idea of staying in, he added.
With each performance, a ray of passion lit up within him. “If I could incorporate that happiness into my career, I wouldn’t experience the dreaded ‘Monday blues.’ It took me time to accept that acting could be my path. I had to convince myself, and later my family, that this was what really made me happy,” he said.
It took time to accept this new path, not only for myself but also for my family. Gradually, he shared his dreams and found support from them.
Today Kaushal is a famous actor of Hindi cinema. He is currently preparing for the shooting of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Love and War, which will also star Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in lead roles.
