Vibe-coding trend involves nothing, lets users create great apps with just a hint
Nothing is launching Essential Apps Builder in beta. This tool lets Nothing users vibe-code apps and then use them on their Nothing phone.

Nothing has announced beta availability of the Essential Apps Builder tool. This tool allows users to create personalized apps with prompts, more known as vibe coding. This feature is available in Playground Hub, a platform for the Nothing community to create and customize apps.
This feature is designed to give users space to create apps tailored to their ideas and preferences, nothing is said. It aims to reduce app overload in today’s digital world. The company adds, “They (the apps) are designed for everyone, which often means they’re not suitable for anyone.”
Nothing first introduced its Essentials suite of AI tools in September 2025 as part of its effort toward an AI-native operating system. The company later launched Essential Apps Builder as part of the same AI suite.
Previously, Essential Apps Builder, available through the company’s Playground Hub, was limited to an initial limited release to a small group of internal teams and community users. After the recent announcement of its beta version, it will be available to a wide range of users.
The availability of Essential App Builder initially starts with the Nothing Phone 3, a smartphone launched in July last year. However, this rollout is in batches. To access the beta version of Essential Apps Builder, users must register for the waitlist.
A public release is planned for later this year, along with the launch of the Remixing Apps feature in Playground Hub. As part of the beta rollout, the company has also simplified the app publishing and update process by clearly labeling live apps, draft versions, and recent changes. With the changes, Essential Apps Builder now supports dark mode.
As of now, Essential Apps Builder is only available on the Nothing Phone 3, while the UK-based company also plans to release it on other Nothing and CMF devices that run Nothing OS 4.0.
At this stage, Essential Apps Builder needs access to the user’s location, calendar (read-only), and contacts. As a result, the tool is limited to creating features like location-based reminders, agenda view, meeting countdown, and one-tap contact widget.
The company says additional capabilities will be introduced soon, including access to the camera and microphone, network fetching, notifications, vibration, calling, and Bluetooth. Additionally, the company said a late February OS update will add activity detection, usage statistics, sensor data, and System Weather API support to the App Builder.
