Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyaan has added another feather to its success flag at the box office. The film, directed by TJ Gnanavel, has crossed the Rs 200 crore benchmark at the worldwide box office. This is Thalaivar’s seventh film in the prestigious 200 crore club.
According to a social media post made by Lyca Productions, Vettaiyaan grossed over Rs 240 crore worldwide in four days. The film joined the superstar’s films Petta, Darbar and Enthiran among others in the Rs 200 crore club.

The investigative drama also marks the reunion of Rajinikanth with Amitabh Bachchan 30 years after the Hindi film Hum. The film also took a great start domestically and crossed the Rs 100 crore grossing benchmark in India after its opening weekend.
According to trade website SacnilkThe pan-India film grossed Rs 104.75 crore in its first weekend (four days), of which Rs 91.85 crore came directly from its Tamil version. Vettaiyaan was the most successful film at the ticket window during the Dussehra weekend, beating the festival weekend business of all other new releases in India including Jigra, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video and Martin.

With its current momentum, the film looks to challenge Jailer’s lifetime worldwide earnings (Rs 605 crore). In a few days it will surpass Petta (Rs 223 crore) and Darbar (Rs 226 crore).
