Vettaiyaan, directed by TJ Gnanavel and starring Rajinikanth, Manju Warrier, Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati and others is trending to take a very good start at the box office worldwide. It is set to become the second biggest Kollywood opener of the year after The Greatest of All Time. Seen as a relatively subtle film from The Super Star, Vettaiyaan has still managed to take a very good start and now it all depends on how it trends in the coming days.
Vettaiyan is set to have the second highest opening for a Kollywood film in 2024
As per day to day trends, Vettaiyaan looks to have a global opening of between Rs 65-70 crore. India’s gross collection should be in the range of Rs 40 crore. The film should collect at least another US$3 million from the international circuit to ensure that it can earn Rs 65-70 crore on its opening day.
In India, the heavy lifting is being done by the state of Tamil Nadu, which will contribute about 50 percent of the film’s opening day collections. Karnataka and Andhra states want to add Rs 12-13 crore between them. The film aims to earn Rs 6 crore from Kerala and rest of India.
Vettaiyaan will be Rajinikanth’s fourth biggest opener
Rajinikanth has big opener films like 2.0, Kabali and Jailer in his account. Vettaiyaan is his fourth biggest opener and can be seen as the calm before the storm as his upcoming films are going to be completely commercial like Coolie, Hukum and a huge combination pan-India film.
