Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyaan performed well at the box office in India on its second day. According to trade website reports, the film had earned Rs 31.7 crore on its opening day, but it declined slightly on Friday and earned Rs 23.8 crore domestically. Sacnilk,

Now with the Dussehra holiday, the collection is likely to increase on Saturday. Vettaiyan, directed by TJ Gnanavel, has started its business on a solid note and is expected to earn over Rs 100 crore in India in the first weekend.
After its two days, the investigative drama’s total earnings stand at Rs 55 crore, of which Rs 49.1 crore came from the Tamil versions alone, followed by the Telugu versions which contributed Rs 5.3 crore. It will be interesting to see how the collections on Saturday and Sunday grow with the upcoming festive days, especially attracting family audiences to theatres.
Vettaiyan will emerge as one of the highest grossing Tamil films of the year, creating new records in Tamil Nadu. However, it is unlikely to challenge the mega success of Rajinikanth’s Jailer, which released last year. It is also competing with Thalapathy Vijay’s GOAT performance.
