Vettaiyaan box office day 11: Rajinikanth’s film fails to reach Rs 150 crore
Considering the Rajinikanth starrer is a big film, it was expected that Vettaiyan would at least get close to the Rs 150 crore benchmark within 11 days. However, it collected around Rs 134 crore nett in India.
After a slow first week, Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyaan ended its second weekend on a good note. As per trade website reports, the film grossed around Rs 12.1 crore in India, taking its total to Rs 134.25 crore in 11 days. SacnilkExpectations from the film were high and it should have grossed Rs 150 crore in India by now.
The film, directed by TJ Gnanvel, is an investigative drama and was released during the Dussehra weekend. Although the opening was strong with Rs 31 crore, the collections continued to decline after that. The film completed its first week with a collection of Rs 122.15 crore.

Vettaiyaan collected Rs 5 crore on its second Sunday. The film has now entered its second week at the box office and it will be interesting to see how long it takes to reach the Rs 150 crore benchmark domestically. Although it is expected that Rajinikanth’s film will do a little better at the ticket window, the film seems to be falling flat after being hit by mixed reviews.
Meanwhile, the makers of Vettaiyaan are planning to work on a prequel to the film. During a recent media interaction over Zoom, the director expressed his desire to make a prequel around the character of Anthony. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil and Rana Daggubati, among others, in important roles.
