Tren de Aragua’s explosive growth worries not only ordinary New Yorkers but also the city’s police force. It appears that the racket’s actions have undermined the safety of residents, which is a significant challenge for the law enforcement agency.
“Not every immigrant is here to commit a crime; not every immigrant is a gang member,” said NYPD Detective Chief Joseph Kenney Post. “But these TDA people hide openly in the migrant community.

The gang, whose name means “train from Aragua (a state in north-central Venezuela)” in Spanish, now runs a citywide theft and robbery ring that has terrorized neighborhoods.

Meanwhile, responding to the popular story that gangs have “taken over” the city, Aurora Police Department Chief Todd Chamberlain said, “I can tell you right now that gangs do not control the city of Aurora.
