The vegetarian versus non-vegetarian debate is not new. This heated debate between two dietary preferences has resurfaced on social media, thanks to an innocent post by a food blogger. His simple plate of dal and rice garnished with the right spices and chopped onions became the center of serious discussion. The claim in a food blogger’s caption that vegan food is “free of tears, cruelty and guilt” has attracted both support and criticism. Sharing a photo of her meal on Instagram (formerly Twitter), she wrote, “I am proud to be a vegetarian. My plate is free of tears, cruelty and guilt.

The post has been viewed nearly 3.7 million times, and users have flooded the comments section.

“I don’t understand why it’s about cruelty etc. Everyone has their own preference. Would you ask a carnivorous animal to become a vegetarian? Nature has created us all in a certain way, let’s respect it and move on with life. We are made to consume both plants and meat…Plants are living things too…” said one user.

In response, the food blogger defended, “Plants don’t go through the pain of child labor; Animals do. Plants do not feel pain; Animals suffer. Plants do not have brains; Animals do.”

“What is there to be proud of??? Keep your thoughts and ideas to yourself, no problem. Don’t say that the other party is cruel. Your mentality is more cruel than a non-vegetarian plate. You better change your mind or change your post. One user commented, “Coexistence in a social community is the ultimate goal.”

Another person asked, “Did he grow this rice at home? If the answer is no, how does she claim it’s guilt-free? Because everyone knows that farmers kill animals and insects with pesticides. And similarly, non-vegetarian people do not kill animals in their homes so that they can also say the same.”

Did he grow this rice at home??

The answer is no, then how does she claim that it is crime-free…because everyone knows that farmers kill animals and insects by pesticides..
And this is the same
Non-vegetarian people do not kill animals in their home, hence they can say this

“Even plants are living beings… but most people will say that plants don’t speak, etc… so food is a personal choice, and we should not degrade others over it. That’s the thing…,” said another.

Another user asked, “How do you think milk is expressed?” The food vlogger replied, “In the dairy industry, mother cows cry for days after their calves are taken away. Now, imagine if human babies were taken away from their mothers; This would be illegal. But there is no one to listen to those silent animals. It seems as if animals have no right to live.”

How do you think milk is extracted?

One user quipped, “It’s better to look at food from your own perspective for your own health and well-being rather than the woke/activist ideology.”
