Kangana Ranaut’s film “Emergency”, based on the events during the Emergency in India, has received support from filmmaker Varun Grover amid growing criticism and uncertainty over its release.

Expressing his views on X, Grover said that censorship is not healthy in society and it is ironic that there are demands to stop the release of a film based on Emergency.

He wrote, “Censorship is never right – whether of individual expression or of any work of art. It is sad and extremely ironic that a film on the Emergency was stopped by the establishment. Filmmaking is a huge act of faith, almost a self-destruction, and we allow a group of scared people to chop it up haphazardly.”
