Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan recently spoke about the deep impact of the sudden death of his driver, Manoj Sahu, who died of a heart attack in Mumbai on January 18. Despite the actor taking him to Lilavati Hospital and performing CPR in an attempt to save his life, his driver was declared dead. Reflecting on that tragic incident, he shared how deeply it had shaken him, recalling how carelessly life had slipped out of Manoj’s arms.
In a conversation with Ranveer Allahabadia on his YouTube channel, Varun Dhawan talked about the deep impact of the sudden death of his driver Manoj. After working with him for 26 years, he admitted that the loss shattered the bubble he had been living in.
He confessed that just when he thought he understood life, the death of his driver completely changed his perspective. Reflecting on the change, he commented that there is a ‘before and after’ 35 in his life. Fighting back tears, the Citadel: Honey Bunny actor shared how he once saw himself as a hero — someone who could save the day, especially given his on-screen roles — but that One day, he realized that he could not save even the one person who had been a constant in his life.
Varun emotionally recalled his deep bond with Manoj and shared how his sudden death shocked him, revealing that despite performing CPR and taking him to Lilavati Hospital, Manoj died in his arms. Died. “I did CPR,” he said. We took him to Lilavati Hospital and we reached there on time. It was as if we had saved someone’s life. But he died in my arms. It was difficult to see how sudden his demise was. That’s just how it happened.”
Varun Dhawan told that her death had a deep impact on him both personally and professionally. He admitted that the loss affected his work, revealing that his projects slowed down and that there is a gap of two years between his upcoming releases. He admitted that the loss had a deep impact on his motivation and focus.
To overcome his grief, the actor turned to spiritual texts like Ramayana and Bhagavad Geeta for comfort. She shared how these texts helped her process her emotions, saying, “These events shake you, but you can’t stand still. I started reading the Bhagavad Gita, the Mahabharata and the Ramayana – just like that – because I had so many questions.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Varun Dhawan’s upcoming projects include Border 2 with Sunny Deol, the comedy Sunny Sanskari’s Tulsi Kumari with Janhvi Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor and Diljit Dosanjh’s No Entry 2.
