Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra made their Bollywood debut together in 2012 with the film Student of the Year. In a previous interview, the former’s father David Dhawan had revealed that his son was insecure with Sidharth. Varun recently opened up about this and admitted that he is jealous of his co-star. He remembered wondering whether his dream would remain just that, a dream.
Recently in a conversation with Shubhankar Mishra, Varun Dhawan revealed why he was jealous of Sidharth Malhotra during Student of the Year. He said that Siddharth was tall, broad and good looking. With SOTY being a two-hero film, Varun felt that the audience would only see his amazing and good-looking co-star. Recalling his thought, he said, “Will you even notice me or not? Mera sapna jo hai, sapna reh jaayega (Will people even notice me or not? My dream will remain only a dream).”
Varun Dhawan shared that by that time ‘negativity’ regarding nepotism had also started. The actor further revealed that he had no plans before entering the industry and felt that he deserved it because of his hard work. However, he said that people are saying something else. “The welcome was not always full of flowers,” Weedy said. He revealed that he has struggled a lot and will continue to do so in future also.

On the work front, Varun Dhawan has many exciting projects in his lineup. He will be seen in the romantic comedy Sunny Sanskari’s Tulsi Kumari opposite Janhvi Kapoor. This film will be released on April 18, 2025. Border 2, Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, No Entry 2 and Bhediya 2 are also among his upcoming films.
