After the release of his film Marco in December 2024, Unni Mukundan stepped into a lot of controversy. The violent nature, themes and visuals of the film became a matter of disagreement for many fans, and even CBFC had to release some restrictions for its dramatic screening, followed by the satellite.
And now the actor has made a big revelation about the possibility of the film being a sequel.
Unni Mukundan confirmed to leave Marco 2
Unni Mukundan recently responded to a fan question in one of his recent IG posts, where the latter asked him about plans to make Marco 2.
Surprisingly, the Malayalam actor confirmed that he had left the plan to continue the film series, citing huge negativity around the project since its inception.
He wrote, “Sorry, I have left the plan to continue the Marco series. Very high negativity around the project. I will try my best to bring something big and better than Marco. Thank you for all love and positivity. Cheers.”
Marco’s blockbuster worldwide box office records
In January 2025, Unni Mukundan’s Marco completed his dramatic run with an impressive number at the box office. The film has Rs. 104 crores globally.
Despite criticism and attracting it, it emerged as a major project, which turned into a large money spinner in the Malayalam industry.
Unni Mukundan’s alleged TIFF with his manager for praising Tavino Thomas
Recently, the actor once again made headlines when the news about him was about attacking his manager. According to a complaint filed by the latter, UNNI was upset when East praised Towino Thomas for his film Narivetta.
However, Unni Mukundan later issued an explanation stated that the case was excluded from the ratio and that the manager’s claims were claimed to be jealous of Towino.
