Unity Go 2 at India AI Impact Summit: Specifications, price and why this Chinese robodog is going viral
A robot dog named Orion recently made headlines at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, but the fascination soon turned to criticism. As it turned out, the quadrupedal robot displayed by Galgotias University was actually Unitri Go 2, a commercially available robot made by a Chinese company.

At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, a four-legged robot dog became one of the biggest attractions on the show floor. Crowds gathered, cameras rolled and clips of the machine running, posing and interacting with visitors quickly appeared on social media. But the discussion soon turned into controversy when it emerged that the robot introduced as “Orion” at Galgotias University’s booth was actually the commercially available Unitri Go 2, a robot developed by China-based Unitri Robotics.
Following the allegations, the university issued a clarification stating that it did not develop the robot and was using it solely as a research platform. However, that clarification did little to quell the online debate. So, what exactly is Unity Go 2, and why has it suddenly become a trending topic in India?
What is unitri go 2?
Unitri Go 2 is a second generation quadruped robot manufactured by Unitri Robotics. It is a Chinese company founded by Wang Xingxing, which specializes in high-performance quadruped robots.
Unity Go 2 was unveiled globally in 2023 as an affordable AI-powered robot dog designed for education, research and robotics development.
The robot is built with a lightweight aluminum and engineering plastic body and weighs approximately 15-16 kg. The machine measures approximately 70 x 31 x 40 cm, which, according to the company, makes it portable enough for lab work and demonstrations while still being sturdy enough for outdoor use. It has an IP54 rating to provide durability against dust and water splashes during outdoor use.
Inside, the Unity Go 2 is equipped with wide-angle 3D and 4D ultra-wide LiDAR for mapping and obstacle avoidance, as well as cameras for visual perception. The robot uses multiple sensors, including an IMU and joint encoder, to maintain balance and stability while walking, turning, turning or climbing small steps.
Under the hood, the Unity Go 2 has an 8-core CPU, with the Pro model supporting 40 TOPS AI computing power. It supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth connectivity for remote control and data transfer.
It runs on an 8,000mAh removable battery that promises to last one to two hours, although an optional 15,000mAh battery is available for extended sessions.
unitri go 2 price in india
Globally, the entry-level Go 2 Air variant is priced at around US$1,600 (roughly Rs. 1.4-1.5 lakh). Higher-end variants like the Go 2 Pro go for around US$2,800 (roughly Rs. 2.3-2.5 lakh) excluding shipping.
Controversy at India AI Impact Summit 2026
The robot recently attracted major attention at the India AI Impact Summit, when it was showcased by Galgotias University named “Orion”. During the presentation, a representative of the university described the robot as part of the institute’s innovation efforts under a major AI initiative. However, viewers immediately recognized it as the commercially available Unitree Go 2.
Videos and posts soon began circulating online, questioning whether the robot was presented as an indigenous development. Following the criticism, Noida-based Galgotias University clarified that it had not manufactured the robot but had purchased it for experimentation and research purposes.
“Let us be clear – Galgotias did not create this robodog, nor have we claimed to do so. Our students are experimenting with it, testing its limits and expanding their knowledge in the process,” the university said in an official statement.
In the latest development, reports have revealed that the organization was asked to vacate its booth at the summit. However, the university has denied these claims. “We have not been informed yet that we will have to evacuate,” a Galgotias professor told India Today at the AI Summit.
