The yo-yo effect, also known as weight cycling, describes the pattern of losing weight through dieting or other means, only to regain it shortly after, often exceeding the individual’s starting weight.

Every person has a certain weight limit. This is described by our genetics, hormones, behavior and environment. Your metabolism works at a rate that supports this set limit, so when you go on a “diet”, you lose weight until the body adjusts to working with fewer calories and then the weight loss stops. mental health: Beyond its physical impact, the yo-yo effect can also take a toll on mental health, leading to stress, anxiety, and disordered eating habits. The psychological stress of repeated weight loss attempts and failures can have a negative impact on overall quality of life.

Create help: Surround yourself with a supportive network of friends, family, or professionals who can provide encouragement, accountability, and guidance on your weight loss journey.

Breaking free of the yo-yo effect requires a holistic approach that addresses both the physical and psychological factors that contribute to weight loss and regain. By focusing on sustainable lifestyle changes and getting support when needed, individuals can achieve lasting success in their weight loss efforts as well as promote overall health and wellness.
