Janhvi Kapoor’s spy thriller Uljh was released in theatres on 2 August 2024. The film clashed with Ajay Devgn and Tabu’s film Auryon Mein Kahaan Dum Tha at the box office. Janhvi recently spoke about how much she was criticised by netizens on Reddit.
In a recent interview with Galata India, Janhvi Kapoor opened up about online trolling. When asked if she gets trolled, Janhvi recalled the words of her sister, actress Khushi Kapoor.
The Ulj actress said, “Khushi told me, they hate you on Reddit. And I was like (ignorant facial expression)… a lot of it is very bitter.” Roshan agreed with her, saying, “But then you scroll and you find another topic.”
Janhvi further explained that Reddit is “full of spies” and said that netizens have “weird” information about their communities. The Dhadak actress added that sometimes, the information and beliefs are quite wrong. Janhvi further added that when she comes across such stories, the actress questions herself whether it is true or not.
Earlier in Pinkvilla Masterclass, Janhvi had opened up about how she deals with online trolling in her life. The Ulj actress revealed that her skills are valued on film sets and called it a “huge validation”.
Citing the example of Baawaal director Nitesh Tiwari who was impressed with her shot, Janhvi said that she should not listen to the faceless trolls on social media. The actress further said that she is open to constructive criticism and has made the necessary changes.
Janhvi said that she has improved her Hindi speaking skills. The Ulj star has also tried to bring variations in her voice in the recently released film.
The screening of Uljhan was held on August 1, 2024. Janhvi Kapoor’s boyfriend Shikhar Pahariya and her siblings, actors Arjun Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor attended the screening, lending their support.
Directed by Sudhanshu Saria, Uljhan also stars Roshan Mathew, Gulshan Devaiah, Rajesh Tailang and Adil Hussain. Janhvi has Sunny Sanskari’s Tulsi Kumari and Devaara in the pipeline.
Janhvi made her debut in 2018 with Dhadak which starred Ishaan Khatter alongside her. She has worked in films like Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Good Luck Jerry, Mili and others in her six-year career.
