UK veterinarian dies by suicide after wealthy clients euthanized pets to save money

A veterinarian in Britain, upset over wealthy clients asking him to give up their animals, has committed suicide by consuming drugs used to euthanize pets, according to a report in The Independent. The veterinarian, identified as Dr. John Ellis, 35, was a resident at Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists at the time of his death. He had become annoyed by customers with “brand-new” cars parked outside his clinic who were refusing to pay for helping the poor animals.

Dr. Ellis reportedly told his mother, Tyne Ellis, that he was having trouble sleeping because of a workplace issue. Speaking at the inquest into her son’s death, Ms Ellis, a Conservative councilor in Fareham, described her son’s death as ‘devastating’.

“Owners are taking too long to come to it, they weren’t asking for help early enough for things that could have been quite simple,” Ms Ellis said.

Ms Ellis also revealed what her son said to her before he took his own life: “When someone tells me they’re not going to pay for their animal help and they’re sitting outside with a new car, and Other people who were really struggling (financially) would do anything to save their animals, but they couldn’t do anything because it was too late.”

Doctor Ellis tricks the nurse

According to the hearing’s findings, Dr. Ellis tricked a veterinary nurse into giving him the deadly drug by claiming he needed it to tranquilize his friend’s large dog. However, he used the drug to take his own life.

Winchester Coroner’s Court in Hampshire said Dr Ellis was experiencing significant stress in both his professional and personal life at the time of his death. Meanwhile, Hampshire assistant coroner Simon Burge said Dr Ellis’ death was “a huge waste of a brilliant life”.

Mr Burge said: “It is with great regret to the family and all their friends that this decision had to be taken hastily, unnecessarily.”

The family also released a statement, saying they were devastated by the loss of their loved one, and said that people “will remember him not only for his professional expertise but also for his warmth, generosity and true love of animals.” Will keep”.

“We are grappling with the heartbreak and shock that comes with the death of someone so young and full of potential. We want to use this opportunity to encourage anyone who may be struggling with mental health challenges to So that he can seek support and not suffer in silence,” the family added.
