An investigation has been launched after a flight attendant working for TUI Airways fell from the plane as it was preparing for departure. The incident occurred at East Midlands Airport in the evening earlier this week when an unidentified crew member fell down, not realizing that stairs were not placed on the plane’s door. BBC Report. East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) attended and the woman was airlifted to Queen’s Medical Center in Nottingham.
The cabin crew reportedly opened the aircraft door, expecting the stairs to still be attached to the aircraft. However, the stairs had been removed long ago and without thinking the flight attendant walked into an empty space and fell.
An eyewitness reported, “She opened the door, went out and the stairs that should have been there were not there for whatever reason. She fell on the street and I heard she was seriously injured.” nottingham post,
An EMAS spokesperson told the publication, “We received a call about a medical emergency at East Midlands Airport at 4:31pm on December 16. We dispatched a paramedic in a solo response car and an air ambulance as well. Was present.” ,
“One patient was taken by ambulance to Queens Medical Center.”
EMAS operations director Simon Hinchley also issued a statement and wished the female flight attendant a speedy recovery.
Mr Hinchley said: “We wish him a speedy recovery and will assist all parties in the investigation.”

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) confirmed that it has launched an investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances under which the woman fell from the aircraft.
“An investigation has been launched, and inspectors have visited the airport to gather evidence and make inquiries to understand more about the circumstances,” an AAIB statement said.
Typically, the ground handling agent working on behalf of the airline is responsible for installing ladders at airplane doors. The airport is generally not involved in this process.
