Two months of hard work went waste: Lokesh Kanagaraj on Nagarjuna’s leaked Coolie scene
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj expressed grief over the leak of a scene from Coolie with Nagarjuna, saying that two months of hard work was wasted. The film, which is scheduled to release in 2025, stars several prominent actors including Rajinikanth.

After a video of actor Nagarjuna shooting for director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s film Coolie in Visakhapatnam was leaked online, the director released a statement on social media requesting people not to indulge in such acts. He stressed that the hard work of many people goes waste when videos of shooting from film sets get leaked.
“Two months of hard work of many people went waste because of one recording. I humbly request everyone to not indulge in such activities as it spoils the whole experience. Thank you,” Lokesh wrote on Instagram.
In the leaked video, actor Nagarjuna as his character Simon is seen brutally hitting a man with a hammer.

Directed by Rajinikanth, Coolie is one of the most anticipated Tamil films of 2025. The team of Coolie officially welcomed Nagarjuna to the film on August 29 this year on the occasion of his birthday. Welcoming him, Lokesh wrote on X, “Excited to have King @iamnagarjuna Sir join the cast of #Coolie as #Simon. Welcome on board and wish you a very happy birthday Sir.”

It also stars Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir and Mahendran in important roles. There are also strong rumours of actor Aamir Khan doing a cameo in this film.
The Tamil pan-India film is being made on a big budget. While the official release date has not been announced yet, it is expected to hit the screens in the second half of next year.
Interestingly, Coolie was being considered as a part of the LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe). However, the director told the media and fans in an interview that it is a standalone film, and his universe includes Leo, Kaithi 2, Vikram 2 and a spin-off film, which is yet to be announced.
