Trigger warning: The following article mentions sexual assault
Landon Barker, son of highly acclaimed musician Travis Barker, was recently criticized for attending a birthday party. Although it may seem absurd at first glance, the party openly made jokes about the sexual assault of Diddy Combs by now-disgraced rapper Shawn.
According to Page Six, after celebrating his birthday party, Landon attended another party for his friend who was also celebrating her birthday.
For those who don’t know, Landon Barker recently turned 21 and he had a party at Nobu Malibu on Wednesday.
Talking about Barker’s friend’s birthday party, several videos of the event have gone viral online. These clips apparently show servers – known as “bottle girls” – carrying bottles of baby oil, while also flashing lights.
The party in Los Angeles apparently made a strong reference to the baby oil seized from Shawn Diddy Combs’ home.
While the guests present at the party were laughing and taking the joke humorously, the women serving the bottles had uncomfortable expressions on their faces.
One of the videos viral on social media was captioned as, “Baby oil show for the birthday boy lololol.”
In the video, party guests were seen passing out bottles, however, Landon Barker was feeling awkward with what was going on at the event.
According to Page Six, Travis Barker’s son was also not seen holding any of these bottles. In another video, a DJ was heard saying, “We’re getting really weird tonight. We’re making sister weird tonight.”
After the video went viral on social media, many people expressed their disapproval, calling the topic insensitive and disgusting.
“Does anyone think it’s funny for rich/famous people to make a potential sex trafficking party ring (I’m sorry) a joke at their parties?” A user wrote on Reddit.
Meanwhile, other users commented that making jokes about a highly scrutinized crime is offensive in many ways.
Sean Diddy Combs was recently arrested in a hotel lobby in New York City on September 16.
The Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down rapper is being accused of forcing women to participate in sexual performances with male commercial sex workers by prosecutors connected to the case.
The Been Around the World artist is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
