Loka Chapter 1: Chandra starring Kalyani Priyadarshan was released in theaters on August 28, 2025, on the occasion of Onam last year. Now, it appears that the shooting of the film’s sequel is scheduled to begin in September 2026 and is likely to release in theaters by Onam 2027.
Is Loka Chapter ready to go on floors from September 1, 2026?
Speaking at an event, in a video shared by RedNool, Kalyani Priyadarshan confirmed that the shooting of the sequel will likely begin in September 2026.
The actress said, “The writing for Loca Chapter 2 is currently underway. As of now, we think we will start shooting in September this year. I am also a part of the sequel.”
Although further details about the film are yet to be revealed, reports suggest that it is expected to release in theaters in Onam 2027.

Loka Chapter 1: Chandra, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslane, was released in 2025. Directed by Dominic Arun, the film is based on Chandra, a mysterious woman brought from Sweden to Karnataka by Moothon, the leader of a secret organization.
Living quietly in Bengaluru and working night shifts at a café, Chandra attracts the attention of her neighbor Sunny, a medical college dropout, who falls in love with her despite her aloof nature. Her life takes a dark turn when she gets entangled in an organ-trafficking racket, and eventually reveals her true identity as the legendary Kalliankattu Neeli. How he and his new allies face imminent threats forms the crux of the story.
Earlier, Dominic had revealed that shooting will begin in December 2026; However, the official announcement is still awaited.
Apart from the lead cast, the film stars Sandy Master, Arun Kurian, Chandu Salim Kumar, Raghunath Paleri and Vijayaraghavan in lead roles.
The film also features cameo appearances by Dulquer Salmaan and Tovino Thomas, with Mammootty lending his voice to Moothon. It was praised by critics for its performances, visuals, and world-building.
Earlier, the makers had announced that Loca Chapter 2 will be directed by Tovino Thomas, who will reprise his role as Chathan.
