Tovino Thomas opens up about Loca 2: Calls it the ‘biggest challenge of his career’ and confirms script is ready

Tovino Thomas is currently gearing up for the release of his next film Pallichattambi, which will release in theaters on April 10, 2026. Ahead of its release, the actor appeared in a recent interview, where he confirmed that the basic outline of the script for Loca 2 is ready and described the project as the biggest challenge of his career.

Speaking with Sudhir Srinivasan on YouTube, Tovino Thomas said, “People: 2 This is the biggest challenge of my career. There is a 389 version of me in the film, but I don’t know how it will be shown. By the time they’re all introduced, the movie will just be an introduction, and we may need Loca 3 to tell us the rest of the story. However, the basic structure of the script is ready, and we are discussing.

Loca Chapter 1: Chandra, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslane in the lead roles, releases in theaters in early 2025. Directed by Dominic Arun, the film tells the story of a mysterious woman, Chandra, who is brought from Sweden to Karnataka by a secret organization.

Living a quiet life in Bengaluru, she meets a young man named Sunny, who develops feelings for her. However, when she gets entangled in an organ-trafficking ring, her true identity is revealed, that of the mythological creature Kalliankattu Neeli.

Apart from the lead cast, the film stars Sandy Master, Arun Kurian, Chandu Salim Kumar, Raghunath Paleri, Vijayaraghavan and others in lead roles.

The film also features cameo appearances by Dulquer Salmaan, Sunny Wayne and Tovino ThomasMammootty has lent his voice to Moothon. The film was well received by critics, particularly for its performances, visuals, and world-building.

A sequel starring Tovino in the lead role has already been announced, with the film expected to begin shooting in December 2026.
