Timothée Chalamet offered to pay the fine stemming from a viral look-alike contest held in October by YouTuber, Anthony Poe. Thousands of Chalamet lookalikes took part in the event, storming downtown Manhattan. Chalamet himself surprised everyone with his look.
The entertainment event, with a US$50 prize for contestants, was so successful that it spawned similar contests around the world, celebrating lookalikes of Harry Styles, Glen Powell, Paul Mescal and BTS’s Jeon Jungkook. Netzines have been having a field day ever since.
However, to add to their amusement, people reported that the original contest caused civil unrest and organizer Poe was fined US$500 due to the large crowd. Chalamet was affected by the incident and contacted Poe and offered to pay the fine.
Poe rejected the offer, later revealing that the fine had already been covered by a digital invitation app for the event called Partiful.

“They offered to pay for the ticket, which is really ridiculous,” Poe tells People. He was pleased with the praise he received from Chalamet’s crew, who described the competition as “amazing”.
Poe said that the contest was conceived as a light-hearted public stunt, designed to bring joy and curiosity to the city. Regarding the inspiration behind holding such a contest, Poe told The Hollywood Reporter, “People always joke, I look like (Chalamet). They call me the ‘less hot Timothée Chalamet,’ so we’re a Wanted to host a look-alike contest. And the original plan was that I would enter it and we would rig it, but as it got bigger, we’re like, ‘This is a little bit bigger than me,’ so We just wanted it Be a fun, wholesome thing. The city.”
While the Dune actor arrived at the event unexpectedly, Poe didn’t get a chance to meet him due to all the chaos. 21-year-old Miles Mitchell won the competition, while Xander Duve was the runner-up.
