Thug Life starring Kamal Haasan and Silambarson TR in the lead roles hit a big screen on 5 June 2025. Prior to his release, Mani Ratnam’s director faced a ban on the comments of an experienced actor against Kannada in Karnataka.
Now, in a recent report, it seems that the film suffered a loss of Rs 30 crore after failing to release in the Kannada-damp area. In an update shared by the production house, Raj Kamal Films International confirmed the same.
For those people, Kamal Haasan made headlines after commenting against the Kannada language. At a pre-of-relief event, the actor commented on how Kannada was born from Tamil, causing a huge uproar among the people.
As pro -Canada activists protested against Haasan and asked him to apologize, the actor refused. This further inspired the Karnataka Film Board to ban the film, which led to its release.
However, the Supreme Court of India has criticized the Karnataka government and the Karnataka Film Chamber for handling the dispute. The apex court has questioned the release of the film in Karnataka, questioning the state government and the Kannada film body.
On a side note, the Supreme Court expressed concern over the tendency to endanger and emotion when emotions were hurt.
Coming into the thug life, Kamal Haasan and Streer starrer is a gangster action drama directed by Mani Ratnam, co-stand by Haasan. The film narrated the story of a gangster, Rangaraya Sakathivale, who once adopted a young boy, Amaran after firing in Delhi.
Years later, the Foster father and son develop a strong bond, with a malignant member of Amarran mafia. However, a Stark turn of events leads to an enmity between them, causing them to close the horns.
How father and son end their quarrel and will they finally re -connect the film’s cross. Apart from the lead actors, the film includes Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lectmi, Ashok Selvan, Abhirami and more in lead roles.
Gangster Actioner was obtained with a mixed-to-negative reviews from critics, but is considered one of the highest-grossing films in Tamil cinema for 2025.
