Kamal Haasan and Silambarson TR starrer Thugs Life is ready to hit a big screen on 5 June 2025. The film’s certification was completed on May 19, 2025, and it received a UA 16+ rating from CBFC.
According to the certificate, the film’s runtime is 165.42 minutes, which translates about 2 hours and 45 minutes. There is no additional cut in the film, but two curse words have been muted.
The thug life comes within a crime-hit mafia world, which was led by Sathivale and his brother Manikam. Amidst a cruel firing, Sathivale saves a young boy named Amaran and, assuming that his fate is connected, he is raised as his son.
Years later, Sakthivel becomes a goal of a murder attempt and is considered dead – only to doubt that Amaran may be behind betrayal.
With a revenge in his heart, Sakthivale went out to settle the score with his son Amarran and brother, Manikam, which believes he believed he betrayed. The rest of the story emerges as a deadly game – Sathivale will be successful, or someone else will rise from ash?

The film directed by Mani Ratnam, with Kamal Haasan, is co-co-written by him, marking his much-awaited reunion after the 1987 heroes. With music composed by AR Rahman, Ravi. Cinematography by Chandran, and editing by Srikar Prasad, thugs life brings a powerhouse creative team together.

The producers of Thug Life are ready for an audio launch event on May 24, 2025. Further, the second single of the film, titled Sugar Baby, is set to release on May 21, 2025.
