After the historical success of L2 Empuraan, Mohanlal returned to the big screen with a family drama called Thaudram. Directed by Tharu Murthy, the film today began its box office trip with a blast. The Malayalam film has set a new benchmark on its early day.
Thudram starts an unprecedented beginning; 5 crore rupees
Bangarol, Thaudram opened for an outstanding start by Rejaputhra Visual Media as the film scored around Rs 5 crore on its debut day. With such a spectacular start, Thudram emerged as the second largest opener of 2025 at the Kerala box office.
The family’s entertainer secured the second place to list the early day collections of Mammuti’s Bazuka, Nasleen’s Alappuzha Gymkhana, and Asif Ali’s Rekhchchithram. It was only behind L2 Empuraan (Rs 14 crore), which is also of Mohanlal.
Thudram opens for positive reception; Strong progress for weekends
20 years later, marking Mohanlal and Shobana’s reunion, Thaudram met positive words-mouth, running his business in the state. The film had already recorded a solid east-sell of Rs 2.35 crore to 1 for the day before killing theaters. It will continue to receive traction in the weekend as advance booking for day 2 and day 3 is very promising.
For records, Thudram has already seen unprecedented pre-books of Rs 1.50 crore for Saturday and Rs 1 crore for Sunday. With the shining reception, the family drama can surprise the business by earning Rs 10 crore from Rs 8 crore in its initial weekend itself.
