Sunny Hostin once openly shared her opinion about a former co-host who spoke negatively about her experience on the popular show The View. Hostin spoke openly about her feelings on the situation.

Speaking to Us Weekly in May, she expressed her disappointment over the matter, according to Deadline. “If I’m honest, I’m always surprised when people say negative things about our show,” the former accuser said.

She added, “We’ve had 27 years, we’ve had probably 24 co-hosts, and you were like a sister, and that’s really special.” Hostin mentioned that she was still in touch with Sherri Shepherd, Candace Cameron Bure, and Paula Faris, who all appeared on the show at the time. She also mentioned that Cameron Bure sent her a bottle of wine from her vineyard, according to Deadline.

Hostin said they are all “close” despite their differing views, adding that they leave those differences “on the table.” She expressed surprise when someone says they don’t like a person, stressing that it never gets “personal” and that everyone joins the show with that understanding.

While she didn’t name anyone, it’s well known that former co-hosts like Rosie O’Donnell and Meghan McCain have publicly shared negative experiences about the show.

Hostin also recalled that when she joined The View, Barbara Walters made it clear that debates on the show weren’t personal — a point Whoopi Goldberg still regularly reiterates today.

Hostin has continued this tradition. She advised co-host Alyssa Farrah Griffin that even if they argued on the show, they would go out for a martinis afterward and everything would be “fine.”

Hostin explained that the co-hosts discuss topics ranging from mental health, divorce, weight loss, weight gain and their families. “Imagine if you step off that stage and it’s not a safe place. It would be an impossible task,” she added.

After McCain and O’Donnell’s statement on the show, the matter sparked a huge controversy as it caught the attention of those present on the show. The View became one of the major discussions among netizens.
