Salman Khan has become a superstar, brother and role model for many. Ever since making his screen debut in 1988 with Biwi Ho To Aisi, the actor has risen steadily. Looking at his stardom today, one can never imagine that there was a time when he was doubtful about his career and future.
We managed to get an old interview of the Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan actor with filmmaker Karan Johar. In the clip, when the Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani director asked Salman Khan if he ever thought he would become a superstar, the Tiger 3 actor replied in the negative. “Mujhe to aisa lag tha thi ki mera bhavishya both gareeb hoga, kirdup dubious (I thought my future would be doubtful and bad.),” he said on the Bollywood Gallery show.
When asked why he thought so when he looks so good, the Bhaijaan of Bollywood said that he became a star because of the directors, choosing the right stories and getting accepted for his film Maine Pyar Kiya. But before that, he never thought that he looked good. He further revealed in the old interview that when he used to go to a party, people would not even notice him.
He further added that when a person looks twice at a guest while entering, he knows that he has something. But that did not happen with him. Salman said on a lighter note that in the earlier days, no one would acknowledge his presence.
While the actor enjoys megastar status, he admitted in an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla that he doesn’t like being tagged with such titles. The Tiger Zinda Hai star told us, “That’s something I don’t care about. I am doing my job; people are liking it, and that’s it. Aisa kuch kar nahi diya hai maine apne par superstar ka tag deserve kare (I haven’t done anything on my own for which I deserve the superstar tag),” Khan said.
In the same conversation, he also discussed about his biggest fear. The actor said that he is scared of respect. He opened up, “Samman se darrata hun main. Especially if I disappoint someone, I will let you down. Jo log aapko pyaar karte hai, family, friends, fans, aapko unki naaro me samman nahi khoona chahiye. Usse darrata hun. Baaki kuch nahi. (I am scared of respect, especially the fear of disappointing someone. You should not lose respect in the eyes of people who love you, and that is what I am scared of – nothing else.)
Meanwhile, Salman is currently shooting for the much-awaited Project Sikandar, directed by AR Murgadoss. The action thriller is expected to have high-octane fight sequences that will keep the audience glued to their seats. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the upcoming film stars Salman Khan alongside Rashmika Mandanna, along with Suniel Shetty and Prateik Babbar in pivotal roles. As of now, it is expected to hit the theatres during Eid 2025.
Apart from this, Khan is also considering joining hands with Jawaan director Atlee Kumar. A source close to the development told us that Salman has given his consent and the filmmaker is currently working on the script of his alleged film.
