Throwback: When Priyanka Chopra was asked if she wanted to play Deepika Padukone’s Mastani in Bajirao Mastani, everyone was left speechless

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani featured the two lead actresses, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone, together in 2015. Priyanka played the role of Kashibai, the first wife of Peshwa Bajirao, while Deepika was cast in the lead role of Mastani, his second wife. While interacting with reporters at an awards show in 2016, Priyanka Chopra was asked if she had pushed Bhansali to cast Deepika Padukone in Bajirao Mastani. PC said that her house is filled with flowers, which shows her admiration for the role of Kashibai.

“Aapne film dekha hai? Toh main kyun karti? Kashi pasand aayi? Mera ghar dekhna, garden ban gaya hai! (Have you seen the film? Why would I play Mastani? Did you like Kashi? You should see my house, it has become a garden)” the desi girl said.

During an old interview with Film Companion, Ranveer Singh, who played the lead role of Peshwa Bajirao, revealed that Priyanka Chopra cried on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani. Ranveer shared that Priyanka wanted to leave the film on the third day of the shoot as the actress was not ready for Bhansali’s “unique” direction style.

The actor recalled that he saw Priyanka “out of control” for the first time and the actress was worried about not shooting a single shot by 9 pm. On the third day, Priyanka initially decided to leave work and go home.

Priyanka recently came to India to celebrate her brother Siddharth Chopra’s wedding and promote her Marathi production film Paani. On August 27, Priyanka left from Mumbai airport. After catching the flight, she bid goodbye to the city.

Talking about work, Priyanka Chopra has completed the shooting of her upcoming Hollywood film The Bluff in the US. Priyanka also has the action-comedy Head of State, in which she also stars alongside John Cena, Idris Elba and Jack Quaid.
