Preity Zinta started her acting career with Shah Rukh Khan and Manisha Koirala’s 1998 film Dil Se. She played a supporting role in this Mani Ratnam directorial. Preity then played the lead role opposite Bobby Deol in Soldier the same year. The actress has worked with all three Khans of Bollywood, superstars Shah Rukh, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan. Apart from these, Preity also worked with superstar Akshay Kumar in Sangharsh in the 90s. The actress once praised Akshay’s gentlemanliness and recalled their ‘freshman days’ from the shooting of Sangharsh.
During an episode of her show Up Close and Personal with PZ on YouTube, Preity Zinta shared her experience of working with Akshay Kumar during the initial days of her career. Preity said that she admires, loves and respects her co-star Akshay because he treated her well even when she was new to the film industry.
Preity Zinta, who shared the couch with Akshay Kumar on the show, said that Akshay Kumar never made her feel like she was a new artist or was acting like a superstar. Elaborating on this, Preity said that Khiladi Kumar never interrupted the actress for not speaking her dialogues properly.
The Dil Chahta Hai actress recalled shooting for a track from the 1999 film Sangharsh. Preity recalled how Akshay made her feel comfortable while shooting for a song sequence on the sets of Sangharsh.
Preeti said, “You were taking pictures and I had to bend down and my top was falling down. And you pulled it from behind and held me and we were taking the shot.”
“So I thought that the heroes who work with us in films are not just heroes for the audience but also for the heroines,” she added.
Several years later, Preity Zinta worked alongside Akshay Kumar in Shirish Kunder’s 2006 film Jaan-E-Mann, co-starring Salman Khan in the lead role.
