The man has given us some of the most iconic and still favorite tracks, like Thriller, Billie Jean and Smooth Criminal, etc. Meanwhile, there is a special video of the They Don’t Care About Us legend that is currently breaking the internet. The artist can be seen with his iconic shy smile as he wins eight awards at the 1983 Grammys. However, the clip includes something even more surprising.
A recent post shared by Historic Vids on X (formerly Twitter) shows the You’re Not Alone singer on stage at the awards ceremony above.
What makes this footage amazing is that it shows Michael Jackson without his glasses, while the singer himself puts them on on stage.
For those unaware, the ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’ artist was known for wearing his glasses everywhere. However, this rare occasion provides a glimpse of his face without any shades.
“I made a deal with myself that if I win another award, which is this award – my seventh, which is a record – I will take off my glasses,” the Heal the World artist tells the screaming and cheering crowd. It is heard that it happened. ,
Although Legend seems a little shy and initially says he doesn’t really want to take off his shades, he adds, “Well, Katharine Hepburn, who was a dear friend of mine, told me I should do it, And I’m doing it for him.”
Also, during the show shout out to the “girls in the back”, don’t stop until you’ve had enough. The performer takes off his glasses, and waves his shiny white glove towards the audience.
The audience was as astonished as we are today, seeing the great personality’s face adorned with a radiant smile. It was a rare moment – seeing Michael Jackson without his signature shades – that took the crowd by surprise, as they cheered and celebrated with him.
At the 1983 Grammys, Jackson not only won the hearts of the audience but also created history. She won the prestigious Record of the Year award for Beat It and the Album of the Year award for Thriller, cementing her status as a music icon.
