Throwback: When Kristen Stewart called Donald Trump a ‘little kid’ over the former president’s past tweets about her

Kristen Stewart made headlines in February 2017 when she candidly responded to former President Donald Trump’s tweets about her. The actress addressed the comments while hosting Saturday Night Live (SNL), revealing her decision to come out publicly in a bold and spontaneous way.

The controversy began when Trump tweeted about Stewart’s breakup with Robert Pattinson in 2012. Trump’s tweet criticized Stewart for cheating on Pattinson with director Rupert Sanders and advised Pattinson not to reconcile with her. Fast forward to February 2017, Stewart addressed these comments directly during her SNL monologue.

In his opening remarks, Stewart said, “Donald, if you didn’t like me then, you probably don’t like me now. Because I’m hosting SNL and I’m so gay, man.”

His decision to come out publicly on national television was described as a very sudden decision. Stewart explained that while sitting down with SNL writers, someone mentioned Trump’s past tweets, which prompted him to make a statement about his sexuality.

Stewart was not surprised by Trump’s comments, which she described as trivial and intrusive. She said, “Of course he had to comment on my paint and feathers. It’s like, ‘What is this 20-year-old who doesn’t know anything about life doing with this guy?'”

She added a personal touch, saying, “He’s a little kid” and “Fuck you, bitch!” She was frustrated by the former president’s focus on her private life.

The controversial tweets stem from a scandal that occurred in 2012, when Stewart was photographed kissing Rupert Sanders while in a relationship with Pattinson. Stewart publicly apologized for the incident, and Trump’s tweets were part of a larger backlash she received at the time. The former president’s comments were interpreted as an unnecessary intrusion into her private life.

In her interview with Rolling Stone, Stewart revealed that she was tired of the constant focus on her past relationship with Pattinson. She said that Robert and she couldn’t continue talking about that stuff because it was really awkward.

He added, “It’s like if someone constantly asks you — I mean literally for decades — ‘But last year in high school?’ You’re like, ‘Oh man! I don’t know!'” Stewart explained that he has been openly gay with his partner for years and finds the constant scrutiny invasive.
