Bollywood icons Kareena Kapoor Khan and Akshay Kumar have shared the screen together in many films. Kareena had once openly expressed how ‘strange’ she found romancing Akshay even though he was her sister Karisma’s co-star. She recalled her childhood visits to the sets of Akshay and Karisma’s films and how she was so young that she would happily sit on people’s laps in the lively atmosphere of the shooting.
In a conversation with Akshay’s wife Twinkle Khanna on her Tweak India platform, Kareena humorously reflected on the experience of romancing Karisma’s co-stars and described it as ‘weird’. She recalled that during Akshay’s first shot, she was in her school uniform.
She noted how much time has passed since then and said, “I’m romancing all of Lolo’s (Karishma) co-stars, it’s so weird. (During the first shot of Akshay, I was in my school uniform) It’s been so long), that shows how amazing he is instead of me.”
However, Twinkle disagreed, saying that it also shows that men often enjoy longer careers while women face different challenges. In response, Kareena said that they are proving this perception wrong, Twinkle said that she is still one of the top female actors even after two decades in the film industry.
The Crew actress also jokingly said that she will still co-star with Akshay when she turns 75, joking that Akshay will still be active in the industry. Kareena laughingly said that Akshay had also mentioned about planning a two-hero film with her son Taimur.
On the work front, Kareena Kapoor Khan created waves earlier this year with the blockbuster Crew, co-starring Tabu, Kriti Sanon and Diljit Dosanjh. Just in time for Diwali on November 1, his much-awaited multi-starrer Singham Again also hit the big screens.
As she approaches her 25th year in Bollywood, the actress is committed to taking up more and more projects to make this anniversary memorable. An industry insider tells Pinkvilla that he has signed on for a film that is expected to be one of the most important and exciting features of Indian cinema in the next two years.
