Bollywood’s ‘Greek God’ Hrithik Roshan is an extremely talented actor who makes his fans go crazy with his charismatic personality, versatile acting and catchy dance moves. While some fans still remember his hook step of the song Ek Pal Ka Jeena from Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai, others praise his notable works in films like Koi…Mil Gaya, Guzaarish and Lakshya. The 50-year-old actor had once revealed that he was “useless and terrible” at playing ‘friends’ and called Rakesh Roshan’s 2003 directorial Koi…Mil Gaya a “tailor-made” film for him.
Let’s take you back in time. During an interview with Bollywood Hungama in 2023, Hrithik Roshan was asked why he stopped playing cool (read ‘dude’) characters.
The superstar said that Hrithik initially did not like playing masculine roles as he found it awkward. He further added that he only liked such characters in Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai and Fiza. The actor said that he was trying to play the roles that the audience expected from him, however, it was not in his “DNA”. He became quite “uncomfortable” during that phase.
Hrithik further said that he likes ‘friends’ only when the character has a “story, purpose and meaning.” The superstar said that the Fighter actor was not prepared to play such characters, but he did it because he was new as an actor.
The ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ star further added that he recognised the ‘dude’ inside him after YRF’s ‘Dhoom 2’. Earlier, the actor had said that he believed being a man meant ‘looking good’, ‘dressing well’ and dancing well.
Hrithik said, “I was trying my best but I was all over the place. I was useless and terrible at it.” The actor then spoke about his father Rakesh Roshan’s story idea for ‘Koi… Mil Gaya’ and how he was attracted to the lead role.
Hrithik was “blown away” when he found out about the “mentally challenged” child he played in the 2003 film. The superstar revealed that he was “lost in the fantasy world” of his “vulnerable character”.
He said, “Maybe it was made for me. So I took to it like a fish takes to water and I knew this was my place.” Have you watched Koi… Mil Gaya yet?
