We’ve all seen Donald Trump make a cameo in the family comedy Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. But how did he get to that part? Oppenheimer actor, Matt Damon once reflected on how the then businessman, Donald Trump, made a deal with the filmmakers to get a role in not only Home Alone 2: Lost in New York but also a few other films.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in 2017, Matt Damon mentioned that President Trump would allow the film crew to shoot a sequence in his hotels only if they wrote him a part in his project.
“The deal was that if you wanted to shoot her in a building, you had to write her into a part,” The Instigators actor told the outlet.
He then also mentioned that Martin Brest, who directed Scent of a Woman, hired an entire team just to write a segment for Trump.
The actor then also noted that in the 1992 drama film, “Donald Trump comes in and Al Pacino says, ‘Hello, Mr. Trump!'”
The Good Will Hunting actor then even mentioned that the film crew wasted time writing the shot and then cutting it from the film. However, the Home Alone 2 sequel remained on hold.
Speaking to the outlet, the Saving Private Ryan actor also mentioned that he has never met Donald Trump in person.
Matt Damon will next be seen in another Christopher Nolan film. The actor has worked with the highly acclaimed director of The Dark Knight Rises twice before. His first work with Nolan was in the 2014 film Interstellar, and then most recently in the 2023 film starring Cillian Murphy.
