It has been 23 years since actor Akshay Kumar married actress-turned-author Twinkle Khanna. Akshay and Twinkle often set couple goals by romancing each other even after two decades of being together. Their social media handles are proof of this. They got married on January 17, 2001 in a private ceremony in the presence of family and friends. Akshay never thought that he would marry Twinkle Khanna, daughter of Indian cinema’s first superstar Rajesh Khanna. The actor once revealed this in an interview.
During a conversation with Sansad TV, Akshay Kumar revealed how he never thought he would marry Twinkle Khanna. Recalling his struggling days, Akshay said that he used to visit the late superstar’s office to ask for work opportunities.
“I never thought in my life that I would marry Rajesh Khanna’s daughter. I never thought. I used to go to his office with my photos in hand and request him for work. I used to go to his office with my photos in hand and request him for work,” Akshay said.
Khiladi Kumar said that the Aradhana actor asked him to come later as he was busy shooting for films. Akshay further said that it would be a “sin” to even think about anything else that could make him feel good.
The 57-year-old superstar stressed that he is very grateful to Rajesh Khanna for his growth and success. The Namaste London actor called it a wonderful experience of his life.
Earlier, celebrity mehndi artist Veena Nagda had revealed that Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna’s wedding was a “surprise”. In an interview with Pinkvilla’s Hindi Rush, Veena remembered Twinkle Khanna sitting in a simple dress. “Her mehndi was also such that when we went in the morning, she was sitting in a simple dress,” she recalled.
During the booking, Veena had no idea who she was talking to as it was kept confidential. The mehndi artist also revealed that the driver did not tell her anything. She got to know about her marriage after Dimple Kapadia welcomed her.
Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna have two children, son Aarav and daughter Nitara.
