Jennifer Lawrence has detailed the terrifying moment she nearly died in a plane crash. Jennifer Lawrence reveals the scariest moment of her life
Jennifer Lawrence has revealed a terrifying, near-death experience she had on a private plane headed to New York. Both engines on the plane failed during the flight, leaving a cabin full of passengers scared for their lives. “All that was left of me on the seat was my skeleton,” Lawrence previously said in an interview with Vanity Fair.
“I thought we were going to die,” she said. “I started mentally leaving little voicemails to my family, you know, ‘I’ve had a great life, I’m sorry.'” But after a bumpy landing, all the passengers made it safely to the airport. “It made me very weak,” Lawrence recalled. “Flying is terrifying, and I have to do it all the time.”
Jennifer said she felt especially guilty because her dog, Pippi, was with her, and she remained terrified until the plane hit the runway in Buffalo, where emergency crews were standing by.
Jennifer Lawrence has opened up about hiring security personnel after the birth of her first child
In 2022, Jennifer Lawrence confirmed the arrival of her first child with husband Cooke Maroney while speaking to Ellen DeGeneres. The host who used to live in the house now occupied by Lawrence said, “I live next door to you now, and I see you living in your house with a new baby. By the way, I sometimes hear you talking to him, and it’s really cute.”
Lawrence has kept her life as a mom incredibly private, and she and Maroney have kept their baby’s identity a secret, but they did speak openly about increasing their security after welcoming little Psy.
In 2023, Lawrence discussed her evolved feelings towards security as a mother in an interview with Kylie Jenner for Interview Magazine. She said, “I didn’t have that much security before I had a child, but once I had a child, with my intrusive thoughts and anxiety, I wanted to have security around us all the time.”
Lawrence initially wanted her security team to be ‘invisible’ to her son, though she quickly changed her mind. Lawrence said of her security, “Once they start working for you, it’s like, ‘OK, wait. This is a person in our lives. He’s helping us’.”
Lawrence has maintained a largely private life compared to many celebrities, admitting during a 2021 pregnancy interview with Vanity Fair that sharing her baby with the world scared her. She explained, “If I was at a dinner party, and someone was like, ‘Oh my god, you’re expecting a baby,’ I wouldn’t be like, ‘God, I can’t talk about it. Get away from me, you’re crazy!’ But every instinct in my body wants to protect their privacy for the rest of their lives as best as I can.”
Lawrence said she did not want anyone to feel unwelcome to her child’s existence, so she did not include him in the public part of her work.
