Xiaomi has confirmed that its latest flagship, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, will launch in China on Christmas. Here’s what you can expect from the new top-of-the-line Xiaomi phone, and whether we’ll see it in India.
Xiaomi has revealed its top-of-the-line flagship, the Xiaomi 17 series 17 Ultra. Xiaomi 17 Ultra will be launched in China on Christmas. The flagship device takes things a step further when it comes to Xiaomi’s collaboration with camera icon Leica. Here’s all you need to know about the latest Android flagship.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra design
The design of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is similar to the 15 Ultra with a larger circular camera module. The design is unlike the rest of the Xiaomi 17 Pro models, with a secondary display on the back.
One interesting element on the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is the circular design for the volume buttons, something we saw on the iPhone 4.
The teaser images reveal that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will be available in black, white and a starry sky green shade that incorporates mineral particles to create a starry sky-like finish. The thickness of the handset is just 8.29 mm, making it Xiaomi’s thinnest Ultra model to date.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra cameras
New features are expected to be available in Xiaomi 17 Ultra under the company’s partnership with Leica. It also includes the first LEICA APO-certified telephoto lens in the mobile imaging sector. The telephoto lens will be a 200-megapixel periscope sensor. The device supports focal lengths ranging from 14mm ultra-wide to 100mm for telephoto, effectively providing 4.3X optical zoom.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra will have triple rear camera setup. Apart from telephoto, the device sports a 50-megapixel primary camera with a 1-inch OmniVision OV50X sensor. The third sensor is currently kept under wraps, but it could potentially be an ultrawide unit.
Xiaomi has not yet revealed any other information about its upcoming flagship.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra launch and expected price
Xiaomi 17 Ultra will be launched in China on December 25, 2025 at 7 PM local time (4:30 PM IST) at the Xiaomi x Leica Imaging Strategic Collaboration Upgrade Event.
The global launch of Xiaomi 17 Ultra could take place at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in March. However there is no confirmation of an India release yet.
For reference, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra was launched in India for Rs 1,09,999.
