Karthik Aryan, Janhvi Kapoor and Laxman were designed to act in Dostana 2, but the film was given shelter. However, it seems that the project has been determined to revive. Srilela, who acted with Karthik in Anurag Basu’s romantic drama, will allegedly replace Janhvi in Doostana’s sequel. About the men’s lead, Vikrant Massey can title the film with Laxman.
According to a recent report by News18 Showsha, the story of Dostana 2 will remain the same as planned earlier, but there have been changes in artists and directors. According to the source of the portal, producers are considering Cerelela to convert Jananvi Kapoor into a female lead.
“The makers of Dostana 2 decided to rebuild the film, expecting a set of actors who have not shared screen space in the past. It would really be interesting to see their chemistry with their co-stars,” the source said.
The Dharma Productions film was previously considered directed by Colin D’Kunha. However, the report further mentions that now it will now be most likely to be played by Advaita Chandan. The film will clearly go on the floor in the beginning of September 2025 or 2026.
Earlier, Mid-Day revealed that Dostana 2 could be revived. The portal shared that Laxman would remain part of the artists, while Vikrant Massey is at the forefront of replacing Karthik Yaran.
Meanwhile, Karthik Aryan and Sreelela are currently shooting for a titleless romantic drama with director Anurag Basu. In the announcement video of the film, Karthik was shown in a rugged look with dirty hair and a long beard. He was seen playing a guitar on the stage and the film Ashiki Se Tu Meri Zindagi. There were also romantic moments between him and Sreeleela.
The film is scheduled for a grand release on Diwali 2025. It will hit Ayushman Khurrana and Rashmika Mandan’s Madock Horror Comedy Brahmand film Thama.
Karthik Aryan is currently working on two projects with Dharma Productions, Nagzila and Tu Meri Maini Tera Tera Tur Tu Meri.
