‘Intermittent fasting’ is a term we hear often these days. Although it is known to provide many health benefits, many people follow this eating pattern to lose or maintain weight. Intermittent fasting seems to be a good option for people who are trying to lose weight. Surely, it may work for you and give you the desired results. However, this eating pattern may not be suitable for everyone. How can someone find out if intermittent fasting is good for them or not? Recently, hormone coach Purnima Perry took to Instagram to share five warning signs that intermittent fasting isn’t for you.
What is intermittent fasting?
Intermittent fasting (IF) is a popular eating pattern that alternates between periods of eating and fasting. There is not just one way to do this, but several. Some people may fast on alternate days, while others may follow the 16/8 method, which involves eating during an 8-hour period each day and fasting for the rest of the day. Another popular way to do intermittent fasting is to follow the 5:2 method. In this, a person can eat normally for five days a week and limit his calories on the remaining two days.

Here are 6 signs that intermittent fasting may not be right for you:
1. Constant fatigue
Fatigue is a common side effect of intermittent fasting. However, if you’re constantly feeling tired and lacking in energy, it may be a sign that this way of eating isn’t working for you. Constant fatigue during intermittent fasting can be an indicator that your body is not getting enough calories.
2. Frequent dizziness
According to Purnima, if one experiences frequent dizziness or lightheadedness, one should avoid intermittent fasting. She explains that this could be a sign that your blood sugar levels are unstable or that you’re not getting enough nutrients.
3. Constant headache
While adjusting to the new eating pattern, you may occasionally get headaches. But if they become more frequent or severe, it may suggest that intermittent fasting may not be the best option for you.
4. Digestive problems
Another common sign that you should reconsider intermittent fasting is recurring digestive issues. According to the full moon, problems like bloating, constipation or stomach pain may indicate that your digestive system is not functioning properly with the fasting period.
5. Difficulty sleeping
Is intermittent fasting disrupting your sleep patterns or causing insomnia? If so, Perry says it could be a sign that your body isn’t adjusting well to the fasting period. If you want restful sleep, it is best to avoid this eating pattern.
6. Decrease in physical performance
Declining physical performance is another sign that intermittent fasting is not working for you. If you are experiencing weakness or decreased stamina during workouts, it may indicate that your body is not getting enough nutrients to support your activities.
