Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent visit to victims of the Los Angeles wildfires has come under scrutiny, with claims the royal couple did it for effect. However, in a recent interview, their friend Jose Andres praised the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for their efforts.
The royal couple — who live in Montecito, California, about 90 miles north of the L.A. area — have reportedly contributed to wildfire relief efforts by donating essential supplies, connecting with affected families and serving meals with World Central Kitchen (WCK). Helped.
Speaking to People magazine, Andres, who considers Meghan and Harry his “friends”, said he was “so glad they came forward like so many other people.” WCK founder and restaurateur says that this couple, who has a long relationship with his organization, is more in the headlines in Britain than in America.
He explained how the Duke and Duchess did not need to do anything for the cause, but they decided to do it anyway. On January 10, the pair visited a WCK location in Pasadena to aid victims of the Eaton Fire. Andres called the gesture “amazing.”
The owner of Bazaar and Zaytinya recalled the couple who would hug victims they did or did not recognize to provide emotional support. “People just want someone to listen to them and give them a hug,” he said.
Andres revealed how “those celebrities” brought joy to the victims and first responders as they cried with them and gave them emotional support. He said anyone who wants to be with people who have lost their homes, whether a celebrity or not, is worthy of praise and appreciation.
“So, everyone who was able to come even for an hour, to me, they are amazing people,” he told the outlet. Andres also claimed that Meghan and Harry didn’t do it for the cameras; Instead, they are donating where there is none.
