Hollywood’s famous modern classic film The Devil Wears Prada is going to get a sequel. According to Variety’s report, Disney is reportedly working on its second part.
It’s not yet clear whether the original cast – which includes Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci – will return for the second part. The original film’s screenwriter, Aline Brosh McKenna, is in talks to write the screenplay.
The Devil Wears Prada was first released in 2006, and was declared a blockbuster, grossing $326.7 million worldwide. While Meryl Streep played the tough, straight-laced boss of a high-end fashion magazine, Blunt and Hathaway played her assistants (Andrea Sachs and Emily Charlton) in the feature. Blunt became a household name after appearing in the film. Earlier in a Variety special, the actor admitted to this.
Speaking to his co-star Anne Hathaway, the British star said, “We just had a wonderful time. I don’t know if any of us knew it would turn out like this. I get referred to it every week. It will be the movie that changed my life.”
The film was based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel of the same name, published in 2003.
