For the Japanese rollout, distributors Geek Pictures and Shochiku have partnered with Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings. The film is set to release across approximately 250 screens, a remarkable footprint for an Indian mass entertainer in Japan, and a sign of growing studio-to-studio collaboration between the two countries.
Pushpa The franchise has already achieved significant commercial success in India and beyond Pushpa 2: Rules It reportedly grossed Rs 800 crore in the Hindi belt and around Rs 1,800 crore worldwide. Its stylized world-building, music and performances, especially Arjun’s role as the fiery sandalwood smuggler, have helped build the films a cult-like global popularity.
With Japanese audiences historically being receptive to Indian cinema, industry watchers are eager to see how Pushpa Kunrin performs. The producers are excited and confident that the scale and swag of the sequel will appeal to the audience and translate into a strong theatrical performance.
