The world’s oldest Michelin-starred restaurant in France, Georges Black made headlines after finding out that it has lost its third Michelin star. The nominated establishment is located in the eastern part of France in the commune of the vonus. It got its first star in 1929 and second in 1932. It achieved its prestigious three-Micelin-Star status in 1981 and maintained it till this year. Prior to its recent performance, it was recognized as a restaurant that maintained his Michelin Star for longer than any other in the world. The Michelin Guide informed about the downgrade on 20 March before the annual award ceremony to be held on 31 March.

“We didn’t expect it. A star would disappear, disappear, disappear, disappear, so we will manage with two stars, so Chef Georges Blanc told French news agency AFP. The 82-year also stated that he lasts for more years without them with three Michelin stars. The first two Michelin stars were won when the restaurant was led by her grandmother (Elisa Blanc). After this, it was called La Mere Blanc. When he was just 21 years old in 1964, he was given the reins to the Georges and his mother. He took the only control after four years. On its official website, Michelin Guide praises signatures such as “with deep tastes” such as Brace Chicken, The Creps Vonusannenes and Rich Sauce. The chef also owns several other food establishments and hotels in this part of France.

Speaking about this news, Gwenddal Pallec, director of Michelin Guide, told AFP that he was trying to “reflect the quality of the restaurant in our ranking”, the BBC said. Nevertheless, he also acknowledged the admirable efforts of Chef Georges: “It was really under his leadership that once a family Sarai experienced a new boom to become this Petu village which is a true gastronomic destination today.” According to a French newspaper report FreedomA total of 23-starring establishments in the 2025 rankings have been downgorated: a single-three-star restaurant (Georges Blanc) and a single two-star one (Le Puits Saint-JAX). 21 installations are prescribed to lose their single stars.
