The HBO hit series The White Lotus, created by Mike White, has announced it will return for Season 3 after two consecutive successful seasons. Season 1 revolved around introducing new characters and a tense vacation at a Hawaiian resort. The second season featured new faces as well as favorite characters facing some even more frightening situations.
The show’s creators left the last episode of season 2 with an open ending so that viewers would be curious about the third season. We thought Cameron Sullivan (Theo James) died, then Ethan Spiller (Will Sharpe) died, then Cameron – but it seems like none of them are dead. Now, a new footage gives a glimpse of season 3 of The White Lotus. Do you know which family from seasons 1 and 2 could come back?
If the producers of White Lotus don’t do any magic, Tanya McQuoid (played by Jennifer Coolidge) will definitely not return in the third season, as she died in season two. Tom Hollander’s Quentin should also not return in the second season, but Mike has already hinted that he will answer the whole controversy of “Greg and Quentin” in season 3.
The story arc of the Harpers or Spillers has been made clear in season 2, so they will not be returning next season. The same can be expected for Portia and the three DeGrasso men. However, new footage shows Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Sarah Katherine Hook dressed in fashionable clothes. Leslie Bibb and Michelle Monaghan can also be seen in the clip.
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Carrie Coon, who also stars in the third season of The White Lotus, explained what kind of approach Mike White will take. She said, “(Mike White) is really talking to people who need to be talked to in a really interesting way. He had a season about money; he had a season about sex. And this is his season about death. So here we are in this Buddhist country.”
Apart from the mentioned actors, Dom Hetrakul, Teme Thapathimthong, Amy Lou Wood, Sam Nivola, Christian Friedel, Morgana O’Reilly, Shalina Peiris, Scott Glenn and Walton Goggins have also been added to the cast list. While the plot details of season 3 have been kept secret, Walton Goggins called it ‘meta’ in an interview with the LA Times.
No official release date has been announced, but the promo teaser shared on Max suggests that it might stream in 2025. Watch it here:
