The Royals, starring Ishan Khat and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles, hit Netflix on May 9, 2025. The show received mixed reactions from the audience and critics. Recently, the manufacturers also announced the second season of Royals and fans also made mixed reactions with it. Now, the Queen of Baroda resorted to social media to challenge the misinterpretation of the show.
After being taken to Instagram, Radhikaraje Gakwad (Maharani of Baroda) opened up about the misinterpretation of royal families in shows like Royals and wrote, “The Royal ignores. Anyone will imagine the royals of India, which has been photographed chronic, photographed by abundance of a community.”
He mentioned how after 1947, the monarchy of India, including 565 princely states, abandoned power peacefully for the formation of a democratic nation. Although many Royals led with knowledge and philanthropy, their heritage often decreases to the old stereotypes.
Radhikaraje further talked about losing official privileges, yet, the royal families in the country put their best legs forward and culturally and socially impressed people. He highlighted his contribution in many areas like governance, hospitality, education and conservation.
The Queen of Baroda also mentioned how women from royal families are playing leadership roles, playing an important role in protecting their traditions, festivals, arts and historical sites. Although he now has no formal rights, he remains an inspirational and respected person in the community.
Rodhije Gakwad ended his note by talking about the younger generation and even he is contributing to promoting his legacy after coming back after his education.
Sharing the long note, he captioned it, “What were I seen looking at Royals …”
Meanwhile, Netflix India recently took on Instagram and announced the second season of Royals. He drew a picture of the throne and tagged Ishaan Khat and Bhumi Pednekar amidst other hints to return to the new season. Sharing the poster, wrote, “Old money, new blood and a new season is in work. Royals season 2 is coming soon, only on Netflix.”
For Anward, Royals were created by Rangita Pratiya Nandi and Ishita Pratiya Nandi and were directed by Priyanka Ghosh and Nupur Aghna. Apart from Ishaan and Bhumi, it includes Sakshi Tanwar, Zeenat Aman, Chunky Pandey, Nora Fatehi, Milind Soman, Dino Moriya, and more.
