Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh were in the lead roles in the film ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ directed by Karan Johar. The 2023 film has been praised for discussing sexism, patriarchy and other issues against the backdrop of a love story. Veterans like Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi also played important roles in the film. Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani actress Sheeba recently revealed that she was approached for a kissing scene with Dharmendra and how she took her husband’s permission for the scene.
During the latest interview with ABP Entertainment Live, Sheeba recalled how she was approached to play her role in Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh’s film Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.
“I think Karan suddenly looked at me and said, ‘Wow, this is a good choice’, but he got a little scared because Anhoni approached me to do a kiss with Dharamji…(The makers asked me to do a kissing scene) (with Dharmendra)” said Sheeba.
The actress told the makers of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani that she would update them after discussing the role with her husband, filmmaker Akashdeep Sabir.
Sheeba agreed to the role after her husband Akashdeep encouraged her to play the role in a film directed by Karan Johar. Citing her husband, the actress shared that he told her it was a “fun little thing” and wouldn’t look ugly or be something viewers couldn’t watch with kids.
Sheeba further revealed that when the kiss didn’t happen, Dharmendra gave her a “sweet peck” on the cheek. She called her scene in the 2023 film a “cute guest role”.
The senior actress also praised legendary actor Dharmendra and said that he is a gentleman. She said he was very sweet and had amazing energy.
Sheeba has worked with Salman Khan in his 1992 film Sooryavanshi. His other films include Kaalia (1997), Pyar Ka Rog (1994), and Hum Hain Kamaal Ke (1993).
In the love story of Rocky and Rani, Ranveer Singh played the character of Rocky Randhawa, who belonged to a Punjabi family. Alia Bhatt was cast as Rani Chatterjee, a Bengali news anchor. Dharmendra played the role of Rocky’s grandfather in the 2023 film. Shabana was Rani’s grandmother in the film directed by Johar.
