The Princess Bride’s Cary Elwes mourns Rob and Michelle Renner in emotional tribute
Cary Elwes recalled her relationship with Rob Reiner, praising the director’s genuine nature, immense love for family, and commitment to finding the best in people. Carey also highlighted Michelle Singer Reiner’s dedication to charitable work.
Actor Cary Elwes, who played the lead role in the late filmmaker Rob Reiner’s fantasy-comedy the Princess Bride (1987), Rob and Michelle Singer shared a tribute to Reiner. In her emotional post, Carey remembered her relationship with the Princess Bride Director.
Carey’s Instagram post read, “So much time has passed that I can finally put my grief into words. I was 24 when I met Rob Reiner for the first time.” the Princess BrideAnd from that first meeting I fell in love with her, I was already a fan of his work so meeting him in person was a dream come true, As we started spending more time together, I knew this was the person I wanted in my life, I also knew that by casting me as Westley he was giving me the keys to the castle,”
The actor continued, “The first thing I noticed about Rob was that he wore his heart on his sleeve. This was a man who felt deeply. Whose heart was full of love and compassion. He wasn’t impressed by how much money you had or whether you had a privileged upbringing. He just wanted to know if you were a ‘good man’. He always tried to find the best in people. And if that person had any problems When it happened, he felt bad for them. He loved his family and friends very much.”
“He obviously loved making movies – and he was obviously a brilliant filmmaker – but he told me he really loved the experience itself most. “Once the movie is released it belongs to other people,” he says.
