Apple is probably ready to announce a major redesign of Macos, and according to Bloomberg, the new version will be called Macos Lake Taho. The name comes from the sightseeing lake Taho, which sits between California and Nevada, and indicates a fresh, more polished visual experience. Here is everything you need to know.

This update will be allegedly Apple’s largest MacoS Redijine as Big Sur was introduced in 2020. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, who reported the news, says Apple has focused carefully to match the scale of changes. The company has a tradition of naming Macos versions after places in California, and Taho Lake holds a special place – several apple employees have holiday houses.

But only one name is more than a change. Apple is also switching to how it labels its software. From this year, all operating systems – including MACOS, iOS, iPados, Watchos, TVOS, and Visionos – are asked to take the same version number: 26. This new naming style, inspired by the car industry, shows the release year of software, even if it will not roll out by the end of 2025.

Macos 26, or Lake Taho, is asked to offer a fresh design that brings it closer to look and feel for iOS 19. Apple is likely to make its platforms feel more consistent, so users may expect updated buttons, menu and other elements to work equally in iPhones, iPads and MACS.

One of the upcoming additions can be how a public can handle Wi-Fi login better. Apple is allegedly planning to improve the stage manager, which is a multitasking tool offered on Mac and iPad. A re -designed version called stage manager 2.0 is expected to roll out with Macos 26, giving users more control and smooth window management.

The vehicle motion cues may be facilitated according to another interesting addition leak. First available on iPhones and iPads, this feature is now coming to Mac. This helps reduce motion sickness when using the device in a moving car, showing small moving dots on a screen that matches the car movement. While it seems simple, users can find it useful.
